In three generations, Royal Furniture has grown up with the Mid-South. Beginning in 1946 with a single Memphis storefront, Royal Furniture now has nine stores serving six states. But some things haven’t changed - our founder James Bach’s family still runs the company with the same pride he had when he first opened the doors. Our reputation for quality and style at affordable prices endures - although our online and in-store showrooms now include trusted names like Lane, Serta, Broyhill, and Hooker.
Founded in 1946 by James Bach, Royal Furniture began humbly in the downtown Memphis mall as a single storefront. Now under its 3rd generation of family leadership, the company includes a remarkable group of dedicated employees who keep the spirit going with nine stores, including three gallery stores, serving six states.
From its beginnings in downtown Memphis, Royal Furniture has grown into the leading furniture retailer in the Mid-South. We are consistently recognized as of one the top furniture retailers in America based on sales per square foot.
The company was founded on the tenet of providing exceptional value to its customers. Although Royal has expanded its product lines since its inception to include designer looks and name brand products, the company still strives to provide the same value to its customer as it did in 1946. If you haven’t been to Royal Furniture in a while, you may be surprised how much we have grown.
It’s all in the numbers
Royal has grown from 25 employees in 1980 into a 225 person organization today. At its current pace of expansion, Royal Plans to double in size in the next 5 years. Our 400,000 square foot distribution facility boasts the most expansive product selection and technology in the Mid-South. The company offers in house financing and superior customer service which has led to over 250,000 repeat customers since 1992.
As of 2008, Royal has 9 stores with the following square feet of retail space: Cordova (35,000 sq ft), Jackson, Tn. (30,000 sq ft), Summer (25,000 sq ft), Winchester (20,000 sq ft), Downtown (20,000 sq ft), Whitehaven (30,000 sq ft), Southaven, MS (30,000 sq ft), Lamar (10,000 sq ft), and Outlet (23,000 sq ft).
